What is it about that night?

About the show

A secret one-woman musical performed in the backstage spaces of working theatres — dressing rooms, corridors, wings, and the hidden machinery of the stage itself. Audiences of up to sixty people at a time were led through the building on an intimate tour through song and story.

The show celebrates the quiet dramas the audience doesn't see — the small human moments in the margins, at the edge of the stage, in the spaces between events. The music sits right at the heart of the piece, responding to both the fantasy and reality of each building: its history, its architecture, and the lives lived inside it.

Written and performed by Catherine Ireton. Produced by Caravan International, with support from Arts Council England. Presented as part of the Caravan International Showcase at Theatre Royal Brighton.
